Ken K8TV will be giving a talk on the low frequency bands antenna project that he and Fred K8FH worked on. Fred’s loop antenna is roughly 1200’ long and only 60’ high. Ken designed an antenna tuner to put at the base of the loop, and also designed and built a transverter that takes a 160 meter input signal, and converts it to a 2200 meter signal. Stations are all over the world are using a mode similar to FT8, called WSPR. The challenge is getting a signal to be heard across the pond from here. Although Fred and Ken’s ERP is only one-watt, the first weekend they had their station on the air they were heard in England and France!
