MCARC October 12th, 2026 – MEETING MINUTES

- Introductions were made for the benefit of newer members
- September meeting minutes were approved
- Officer’s Reports
– Treasurer reprt was approved
– President
– Need new membership chairman. Treasurer Dave (KE8APO) offered to collect the dues directly and advise status to new membership chairman.
– Unpaid members since 2025 – Discussed but no resolution at this time
– Increase meeting attendance. QST October has an article on this including a suggestion by a member who previously belonged to another club who suggested speaker/technical part first. Meeting at the senior center was discussed for the benefit of members who find night driving difficult, but the AV use is still a problem. Perhaps shorter meetings. They now go two hours. Zoom meetings were also suggested as well as opening membership and expanding technical presentations on GMRS and Meshtastic (article in Oct QST)
– Meeting programs – Need ideas submit to Ed (K8NVR) or Toby (WT8O)
– Officer and trustee meeting – 7:00 PM – 10/19/26 – JVS
– JOTA event was discussed but no time to do this year. Planning for 2027 is a possibility
– Vice President: Ed (K8NVR) reported equipment sales at the picnic totally $535 (including equipment donated by Gordon (AI8Y) who split sales 50/50 with club)
Still looking for location for 6m repeater (JVS?). No further news from Issac Walton.

– Suggestions needed for webmaster Dudley, WA1X. Anyone with history or photos from previous club activities would be welcome as well as articles.

Other new business: Jim Johnson (KD8FHY) asked if there was an email account for the web domain. Dudley said not specifically, but the contact link goes directly to his email.
He also suggested that a Chromebook might be useful for the club president to simplify officer turnover. He also inquired about paying dues online. Dudley is investigating. Dave (KE8APO) expressed concern as treasurer about exposing our club checking account funds to possible hacking. A suggestion was made to have a second account for this, but that would require extra bookkeeping. This will be discussed at the next officers meeting.
